The provincial flags of 1968-1976 are of a uniform pattern. Each is square with the arms of the province surmounted by a red schwenkel bearing a green pentagram, representing the national flag.

Rabat-Salé was a muncipal prefecture in the epoch 1976 to 1997.

The field is quarterly of blue and green. The first quarter has a gold tower rising over blue and white waves dancetty, recalling the municipal arms of the national capital, Rabat. The second quarter has a red-brown tree with gold leaves and the base dancetty is white. The third quarter bears the double-bladed yataghan (with hilt of gold and blades of silver) which forms — below the royal crown on a chef of red — the municipal arms of Salé. The fourth quarter has an embattled base of gold from which stands a white tower. An inescutcheon of gold has a white house with a green roof. (Sources: [pve69], [zna01]:232, [m9a70])

The coat of arms and the flag is a blue field with a red shield head. In the head of the shield a yellow crown with white Salomon seal. The blue field has a gold tower rising over blue and white waves dancetty. Right and left from the tower is in each case a yellow fort. (Source: [m9a70])

Crown and sabers symbolize the royal seat.The green field bears the double-bladed yataghan (with hilt of gold and blades of silver) which forms — below the royal crown on a chef of red — the municipal arms of Salé.
