"The State Protection Service (abbrev VAD) is a part of The State Police of the Republic of Latvia. The primary mission of the State Protection Service is to provide protection for:
- Very Important Objects of the Republic of Latvia,
- Cabinet of Ministers,
- Foreign Embassies,
- Foreign Consulates,
- Foreign residences,
VAD was established on January 16, 1995. It's personnel is more than 800 police officers...
VAD motto: "Vigilance is our force."
VAD has it's own Standard. On the VAD coat of arms you can see an aureate griffin - a lion with the head of an eagle - which symbolises vigilance."
