When the government of Republic of Korea was established on August 15th 1948
they felt it necessary to unify the method of manufacturing Taeguk flag.
In January 1949 the national flag correction committee with 42 members was set
up and the design of Taeguk flag was examined.
The 1st proposal was made by Royalist Group and the flag was Taeguk flag of
1906:

The 2nd proposal was made by the Ministry of Education and the flag was Taeguk flag of 1945 provisional government:

The 3rd proposal was made by National flag Promotion Association and the flag was Taeguk flag adopted as the present national flag:

The 4th proposal was made by individual person and the flag was Taeguk flag charged with red on left and blue on right Taeguk design:

The 5th proposal was made by Independent Army and the flag was Taeguk flag in near square form:

Among five proposed flags, the 3rd proposal flag was adopted as a Korean
national flag by the Cabinet Notification No 8 dated January 25th 1950.
