Amago Tsunehisa was a famous warlord of the Sanin region who fought for supremacy in the Chugoku region with the Mori and Ouchi clans. At one time, he held six provinces, including Oki, Bingo, and Aki, but the Amago family was defeated in a war with the Mouri clan and fell. The family emblem is said to have been made of a four-knotted cloth, as the family was descended from the Kyogoku clan of Omi Province, although the flag is unknown as no documents remain. The white flag with the family emblem is an imaginary reconstruction.
