The term Magna Grecia in southern Italy today is used by ancients to identify
some of the Greek colonies in Italy (for example, Naples). Although we Italians
owe Greece a remarkable cultural heritage, there are only a couple of very
limited areas where some kind of Greek is spoken in modern Italy. In fact, Grico
is not a people, rather a dialect used in a small area of the Puglia region. In
the last thirty years there has been an attempt to preserve it from extinction
by a few organizations (see
http://enosi-griko.org/).
I believe that this is a marketing
advertisement to promote selling the flag, which has otherwise no actual
background in Italy.
