ACI Financial Markets Association (ACI FMA) is a leading global trade
association representing the interests of the professional financial
markets community, with over 9.000 members in more than 60 countries.
Established on June 29, 1955 when representatives from nine countries
met in [the current main office city of] Paris, the Forex (Foreign Exchange, for foreign currency
exchange) movement started. A year later, following an agreement
between foreign exchange dealers in Paris and London, eight local
associations decided to gather under the same umbrella: Association
Cambiste Internationale (English: International Forex (Foreign
Exchange Market) Trade Association). A decision was taken to adapt the
ACI name to aggregate all diversity trading activities: ACI - The
Financial Markets Association, so by the beginning of the year 2000,
there were 63 National Associations. Its flag is a white horizontal background with a golden globe in the
middle, surrounded by a thick blue stripe. Below it features the
inscription in blue capitals "ACI The Financial Markets Association".
