"Our club was
established in 2010 and is strictly a DINGHY sailing club. Our burgee does
depict the Levert’s lighthouse and the sail of a 'Galway Hooker' - a traditional
sail craft used along the west coast of Ireland. The [JFK Memorial] sculpture in
Eyre Square also represents the sail of a Galway Hooker."

"Probably the
newest lighthouse in Ireland, this only went up in 1977 to replace Mutton
Island. It sits in the middle of Galway Bay guiding boats into the harbour."
