Overview

Nagykanizsa is a medium-sized city in Zala County in southwestern Hungary. It lies not far from Lake Balaton at the meeting point of five routes.
For centuries the town has been a connecting link. Goods from Slovenia were transported to Graz via Nagykanizsa, and the town played
an important role in the trade from the Adriatic Sea to the Alpine region, Vienna, and Budapest.

The Flag

At http://www.nagykanizsa.hu/onkorm/rendeletek/rendelet_a_jelkepekrol.html, there is Res. No. /1999. (I.26.) of the Council of the City about its flag and CoA which changed the original Res. No. 2/1990. (VI.14.) of the Soviet of the town. The flag is vertically divided red-silver with the Coat of Arms.
István Molnár, 6 March 2002

Its flag is red and white with coat of arms in the center, and name under it. The regulation writes about vertical variant only, but it is used as horizontal version as well. No ratio is given, but based on image, it seems to be 2:3. Regulation of coat of arms and flag: www.nagykanizsa.hu
