Jugoslavenski Lloyd was formed in 1928 by the merging of Atlantska plovidba and Jugoslavensko-amerikanska plovidba, both from Split. Renamed Prekomorski Lloyd in 1941, the company was abolished after the Second World War.

Jugoamerikanska was founded in 1924 by B. Banac, P. Baburica, the Mihanović brothers and F. Petrinović. In 1927, the company operated 9 steamships, totalling over 48,000 brt.
The house flag of Jugoamerikanska, as shown by Isaić [isa01], is quartered per saltire white-blue-white-red with the white letters "J" and "A" in the respective white quarters.
