The Town of Preko (3,871 inhabitants in 2011, 1,351 inhabitants in the village of Preko) is located on the Ugljan island off the coast of the town of Zadar. The name of the place can be tentatively translated as "over there", that is over the channel from Zadar, 6 km to the west.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle. The coat of arms is prescribed to be 2/5 of the flag's height.
However, on a document kindly provided by the municipal administration, the coat of arms is shown as usual, to be 2/3 of the flag's height.

The coat of arms is "Or a single-masted boat azure with a triangular sail argent and a pennant of the same and in the chief a branch of olive with eight fruits vert".
The eight olives, presumably, refer to the eight settlements forming
the Municipality.
The same kind of boat is shown on the coat of arms of the Municipality of Kukljica, located on the same Ugljan island, adopted in 1998. Instead of an oar, the boat is here equipped with a sail. The olive branch appears also on the coat of arms of Zadar County, although the olive fruits are here green, and there are eight of them, instead of six in the County arms.

The ceremonial flag (photo) is a light blue gonfalon with three triangularly ending tails with tassels, the coat of arms in the centre, the town's name inscribed in golden in an arc and a line above and grapevine and fig branch ornaments beneath.
The coat of arms in the ceremonial flag differs in details from the official version: the sail is in front of the mast and the pennant at the top is azure.
