Description of the flag

Narodne novine d.d., a joint-stock company whose business scope includes publishing and printing of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia, as well as official and other types of forms, and the school and office supplies trade activities, with headquarters in Zagreb, became an independent "publishing company" by a decision brought about by the Government of the Republic of Croatia as of 3 July 1952. The company is a successor of the public economic company "Tiskanica", which was founded in 1950 for the purpose of "printing and distributing forms".
With the establishment of the independent Republic of Croatia, in November 1990 "Narodne novine" became a public company, which was registered as a joint-stock company with a 100% ownership by the Republic of Croatia in 2000, pursuant to a special regulation.
Company's business scope is divided into three basic activities which form a functional whole. The activities are the following: publishing, printing and trade.

Narodne novine (The Official Gazette's name in Croatian) was first published in 1835 as "Novine Horvatzke" and it has been published continuously to this day. The name "Narodne novine" was first used in 1843. "Narodne novine" is officially translated as the "Official Gazette" but has a literal meaning of "National newspapers"
