On 1 May 2016, a big flag, vertically divided red-white-black, was found
hoisted on a hillside overlooking the village of Dounet. This caused collective
hysteria among the population, which feared either a terrorist act or a
sacrifice. After having been exorcized by an imam, the flag was taken down by
the gendarmerie forces and brought to Mamou, the regional capital located 30 km
of Dounet. Most locals rather believe that the flag was indeed a sacrifice
imposed to someone by a marabout or a charlatan.

Three weeks later, a man contacted the
security services to explain the origin of the flag. The flag was indeed a
sacrifice committed by his daughter, who lives in Conakry, the national capital,
and eagerly seeks a job and a husband.
