Znamierowski [zna00] shows on p. 245
the houseflag of Black Star Line. The flag is horizontally divided green -
red - yellow - red - green, in proportion 1:1:4:1:1. A black star is placed
in the middle of the yellow stripe.
Smith [smi75b] says that Black Star Line
Ltd. operates in Accra, the capital of Ghana. The Ghanean origin of the flag
can be easily guessed from the flag design.

The black star on a shipping line’s flag was the source for
the black star on the Ghanaian flag, but these two
flags are of two different companies with the same name: the American
Black Star Line (1919-1923) and the
Ghanean Black Star Line.

Black Star Line Ltd. was formed in 1957 under Government control and in the
late 1980s Lloyds show it also as the State Shipping Corporation. The last ships
were sold in 1998.
