See also:Bloxwich is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall located on the Staffordshire/West Midlands border. Its origins go back to the Anglo-Saxon period where it was was a small Mercian settlement ruled by a local lord of the Bloc family. Its name literary means "Bloc's village."
Bloxwich remained a small village, although in the 18th century its coal resources and iron smelting industries contributed to the Industrial Revolution. It was in the manufacturing of awl blades that Bloxwich was most well known, although other products such as bridle bits, stirrups, keys, cabinet locks, plane irons, buckle tongues, chains and saddles helped the local economy. In the early 19th century, Bloxwich was still a village, but most of its inhabitants found employment in the newly founded mining and forging industries, as well as light metalworking.
In the 1990s and 2000s, many new housing developments have sprung up in Bloxwich and its market square has been refurbished. Being mostly made up of Victorian and Edwardian buildings and with its parks and lush gardens, it gives this part of the town a timeless feel.

Here is a flag for the Bloxwich Town, in Metropolitan Borough of Walsall, West Midlands. "A green and black cross on a white background, the colours symbolising both the industry and green spaces of the town. In the canton is a lion which refers to the story of a lion that escaped the local
carnival to wander the town and thus further represents the towns carnivals up to the present day. It can also reflect the Romping Cat public house. Below the cross on the hoist side is a tree with central branches crossed to symbolise the story of the local wishing tree, also recalling the legend and folklore of the town. The two symbols also recall the sporting badges of the town - a tree appearing on the rugby team logo and a lion's head on the football team logo." (source).
