Presentation of Trignac

The municipality of Trignac (7,926 inhabitants in 2018; 1,438 ha) is located north-east of Saint-Nazaire.

Trignac was part of the municipality of Montoir, with some level of autonmy. At the end of the 19th century, Trignac already had its school and postman. At the Montoir Municipal Council, the interests of Trignac were defended by a number of its inhabitants.
On 1 March 1912, the separation request was submitted to the sous-préfecture by the tax collector. Initially a small hamlet of barely more than 300 inhabitants, the town developed from the end of the 19th century around the Forges de Saint-Nazaire founded in 1879 by the Société des Mines de Fer de l'Anjou. The municipality of Trignac was created on January 1, 1914.
