Symbols of El Cubo del Vino

The flag and arms of El Cubo del Vino are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 14 April 1999 by the Zamora Provincial Government, signed on 17 May 1999 by the President of the Government, and published on 1 June 1999 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 103, pp. 5,840-5,841 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular flag, with proportions 2:3, made of a white panel with a red diagonal stripe running from the lower hoist to the upper fly, three green disks in upper hoist and a red Greek cross in lower fly.
Coat of arms: Argent a bend sinister gules in chief a bunch of grapes vert in base a church gules masoned sable. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.

The Royal Academy of History rejected the proposed flag, arguiing it includes charges not shown in the proposed arms; the Academy recommended to remove the bend sinister from the arms, as a charge of late and marginal origin, with negative connotations and absent from traditional arms (Boletín de la Real Academia de la Historia, 2001, 179, 1: 180).
