The municipality of Santovenia de Pisuerga (3,845 inhabitants in 2010; 1,374 ha) is located in the northeast of Valladolid Province, 5 km from Valladolid.
Ivan Sache, 16 April 2011
The flag and arms of Santovenia de Pisuerga are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 30 September 1998 by the Valladolid Provincial Government,
signed on 2 October 1998 by the President of the Government, and
published on 21 October 1998 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 202 (text).
The symbols are described
as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular flag, with proportions 1:1, made of a white panel with a wavy blue stripe running from the lower hoist to the upper fly and a red lion in each white triangle.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Argent a lion rampant gules crowned or, 2. Argent a lion rampant gules crowned or. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.
The Royal Academy of History found no valuable reason to add to the flag an heraldic charge - a bend wavy - to the charges shown on the coat of arms - two lions. The bend should either be added to the coat or arms or removed from the flag (Boletín de la Real Academia de la Historia, 2000, 197, 2:361).
