The flag and arms of Villoria are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 7
July 1987 by the Government of Castilla y León and published on 24
July 1987 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 116 (text).
The Decree states that the Royal Academy of History recommended
modifications to the proposed coat of arms and flags, which were only
partially accounted for by the Municipal Council.
The symbols are, unfortunately, not described in the Decree.
The flag of Villoria (photo, photo) is rectangular, purple with the municipal coat of arms in the middle.
The coat of arms of Villoria "represents the arms of the Ruiz de Vergara: 'Per fess, 1. Quarterly, 1. and 4. Argent an eagle sable, 2. and 3. Argent a holly oak vert a wolf sable, 2. Or a tree vert a wolf proper chained, a chief azure three fesses or, a bordure or ten branches of holly oak vert, the motto 'Según las Obras'" (Wikimedia Commons).
The Ruiz de Vergara were a noble lineage from Guipúzcoa, with their headquarters in Vitoria; they became Marquis of Cañete by succession.
