The municipality of Torrejón de Ardoz (126,878 inhabitants in 2014, therefore the 8th most populous municipality in the Community; 3,249 ha) is located 20 km of Madrid and 10 km of Alcalá de Henares.
The town is mostly know as the place of the Torrejón base of the Spanish Air Force, also used by the US Air Force from 1953 to 1992. The base was also used since then as the secondary airport of Madrid (Madrid-Torrejón), mostly for private jets, this activity being currently transferred to Madrid main airport (Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas).

The "rehabilitated" flag (photo, photos, photo, photo) and arms of Torrejón de Ardoz are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 8 October 2009 by the Government of the Community of Madrid and published on 12 March 2010 in the official gazette of the Community of Madrid, No. 60, p. 69 (text) and on 5 April 2010 in the Spanish official gazette, No. 82, p. 31,328 (text).
The symbols, originally adopted on 29 October 2008 by the Municipal Council, were validated on 17 February 2009 by the Heraldry Assessors (Royal Academy "Matritense" of Heraldry and Genealogy).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: In proportions 2:3. Horizontally divided in the middle, yellow and purple.
Coat of arms: Quarterly. 1. Castile (Gules a castle or masoned sable port and windows azure), 2. Aragón (Or four pallets gules), 3. León (Argent a lion purpure crowned or), 4. Argent two caldrons sable per pale. The shield surmounted by a Royal Spanish crown open.
The flag in official use appears be charged with the coat of arms in the middle.
The coat of arms, widely used in the 18th century, was subsequently forgotten, for unknown reasons. The Municipal Council decided in 1967 to rehabilitate the old arms, but no official decision appears to have been made. However, the arms have been used on official documents since 1969, without interruption.
