Presentation of Tinajas

The municipality of Tinajas (195 inhabitants in 2018; 4,689 ha) is located 60 km north-west of Cuenca.

Tinajas is the site of a controversial project of set-up of a "macro-farm" aimed at housing 66,000 chickens; based on 5.5-6 cycles per year, this would result in an annual production of 363,000 chickens. The farm, which would be built 200 m from the village, stirred strong opposition from the villagers, who organized the Plataforma de Vecinos de Tinajas, to protest against the project.
