Translated from <www.ame.gov.ec>:
"The flag was adopted by the municipal council in 1996 as
white and green, green representing the greenness of the fields
and white the nobleness of the inhabitants.
The middle of the flag is charged with a shield whose main
elements is the the railway crossing the Ecuadorian paramounts to
the entrance of the coast at Bucay. The fruits of the region,
including citrus, bananas, sugarcane, American narrow-leaved
bamboo ("guadua"), yucca, passion fruit, cocoyam
"guineo orito" bananas heart of palm, cocoa, among
other products exported to the European and Asiatic markets. The
various grasslands use for cattle-breeding, an activity
transformed locally in a main production area for milk and
cheese. Bucay is watered by a wide range of rivers and marshes
supplying in vital liquid all along the year."

I corrected misspelled "Antonío" instead of "Antonio" and changed the shade
of green to medium green, matching the source.
