Shield abased parted per bend sinister; above right a sinister facing lion rampant barry of nine of Argent and Gules, crowned and armed Or and tongued Argent; beneath left bendy of five of Argent and Sable.
Meaning:
The bendy shield, originally displaying a shield Argent two bends Sable, displays the family arms of the Lords of Stein-Liebenstein in Barchfeld. They ruled the village since 1360 first as vassals of the Landgraves of Hessen. They died out at the end of the 17th century. Since 1721 Barchfeld was seat of the Philippsthal-Barchfeld branch of the Landgraves of Hessen. The lion is the heraldic animal of the Landgraves of Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld.

The arms are traditional. The banner was never approved officially and is used nowadays by the municipality.

It is a blue-white-blue vertical triband with ratio of stripes 1:2:1. The coat of arms is slightly shifted to the top in the white stripe.

Shield Azure a stork proper vigilant, on sinister chief point a sieve Argent, dexter flanch Argent charged with a pale wavy Azure.
Meaning:
The blue pale wavy is representing the Werra River at the eastern border of the village.
