Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) shield on the dexter half is an image of St.Mary sitting upon a silver (= white) throne, dressed in a red garment partially covered by a blue coat, and crowned by a blue coronet fleury. In her right hand she holds a branch of a rose bush with three red roses. In her left arm she is holding Jesus Christ cross-nimbed silver (=white) and red.
The dexter half is showing a black rampant lion, armed and tongued red holding a blue pennant stuck upon a black lance.
Meaning:
According to source the ensemble is based upon the seal of Bracht, known since 1474. St.Mary is the patron saint of Bracht parish church. The lion is symbolizing the dukes of Jülich/, the former rulers. The pennant is interpreted as banner of fiefdom.
