Südeichsfeld Municipality was established on 1 December 2011 by a merger of the municipalities of Diedorf, Faulungen, Heyerode, Hildebrandshausen, Katharinenberg, Lengenfeld unterm Stein, Schierschwende and Wendehausen. The municipality has no proper symbols yet.

Meaning:
The wheel is referring to the Archbishopric of Mainz, to which the Eichsfeld historically belonged. The spindle is referring to local mills. The oak is a representation of the oak on the local village green. Heyerode is the seat of Südeichsfeld Municipality.
