Shield Azure parted by a bend sinister wavy Or, above right a lion rampant issuant Or, beneath left a sword flambant Or in bend accompanied by three bezants in bend.
Meaning:
The lion is a differentiation of the arms of the Counts of Schwarzburg and is alluding to the fact that the village for a long time had been an enclave of the County of Schwarzburg and later of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. The wavy bend sinister is a representation of the Gera River. The sword is an attribute of St. Michael, the local patron saint, who had already been displayed on former village seals. The bezants are symbolising archaeological excavations. Among others golden coins from the 3rd century AD had been found in a grave.

Shield Argent a church Or with roof and spire Azure and weather vane Or on top of a mount issuant Vert, charged with a bulrush Or in fess.
Meaning:
The bulrush (German: Ried) is a canting element. Already the oldest village seal from 1681 displayed a church, flanked by reeds and bulrushes. The pattern was abolished in 1854 and replaced by the seal of the Duchy of Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach. It was restored in 1912 by the church without any plants. The church is the landmark of the municipality, located on top of a mountain and widely to be seen around the village.
