Shield Azure, a bend sinister wavy, in dexter chief hammer and mallet Argent hafted Or.
Meaning:
The bend sinister wavy is representing the name giving Sulzbach, a creek. Hammer and mallet are the symbols of mining, especially black coal, which was practised in the city since 1462. The tinctures are those of the lion shield of the arms of the Counts of Nassau-Saarbrücken<7i>, the former rulers since 1555.

The arms were approved on in 1939 and confirmed in 1946, when Sulzbach gained city rights. Flag and banner were never approved officially.
