Meaning:
The village was founded after 1150 in the Burgraviate of Dohna but not mentioned by name before 1347. Due to its loxation on the banks of the Elbe River and alongside a railway line, it became a place of various industries in the 19th century. The ship is symbolising shipping on the river and the cogwheel industries. The arms are based on a village seal of Mügeln frpm 1814. Mügeln and Gommern merged with Heidenau in 1920.
