Shield Gules a boar's head Sable armed Or.
Meaning:
Kößlarn gained the status of a market town in 1483, confirmed in 1488. The arms don't match heraldic rules, which had been usual for arms of municipalities in the 15th century, granted by the Dukes of Bayern-Landshut. Design and tinctures haven't changed since then. The boar's head probably is taken from the family arms of the Eberspeck kin. Hans Eberspeck, a capitular in Passau, in 1467 set his seal on the bill of sale of the lot, where later the parish church of the town was built. During the 19th century the background tincture had been golden.
