Shield Or parted per pale, at dexter a bend Gules, at sinister a spearhead Sable
Meaning:
The Lords of Rötteln, later the Margraves of Hachberg-Sausenberg and finally 1503 the Margraves of Baden had been local rulers. The spearhead (German: Saufeder, a special spear for wild boar hunting) displays the family arms of the Reich of Reichenstein kin from Basel, having the local fiefdom from 1394 until the 19th century. It was already displayed in local seals from beginning of the 19th century. The family was succeeded by Baron Maria Hermann of Breitenlandenberg. Since then local seals displayed three annulets of the Breitenlandenberg kin. Their arms displayed three silver annulets ordered 2:1 in a red shield. Later seals displayed in a shield parted per pale the Badenian bend and the annulets.
