Kyffhäuser County Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, on a triplemount issuant Vert, charged with a barrulet Vert fimbriated Argent, a lion rampant Or, armed and tongued Gules, holding a quartered inescutcheon by his left forepaw, on 1st and 4th quarter barry of six of Gules and Argent, on 2nd and 3rd quarter Argent six lozenges Gules ordered 3:3.
Meaning:
The lion is the lion of the Counts (later Princes) of Schwarzburg, who, in the Middle Ages, ruled most of the present district. The small shield shows the arms of the Counts of Mansfeld, who, in the 18th century, acquired several estates in the district. The base of the shield symbolises the mountainous terrain, with many forests, and the Wipper river.
