Shield Or a faceted 8-point star Sable
Meaning:
The name giving Waldeck Castle was acquired by the Counts of Schwalenberg before 1180. They called themselves later Counts of Schwalenberg-Waldeck. The county is congruent with the historical Principality of Waldeck. Only Pyrmont swapped in 1922 to Hameln County. The oldest family arms of the counts displayed alreay the 8-point star, which was displayed later in municipal arms also as 6-point star. By a treaty between Prussia and Waldeck in 1929 the principality was incorporated into the Prussian Hessen-Nassau Province, keeping the right to use the Waldeck arms without changes on its county seals. The three established counties were united in 1942 and the arms of the principality became the new county arms.

The banner was in use since 1955. The arms were approved in 1929 and confirmed in 1942. The symbols were abolished on 31 December 1973.
