Red-white with the arms.
Source: Falko Schmidt, arms from Bardua 1987.
Adopted 8 August 1988, according to Dirk Schönberger's Administrative Divisions of the World website. From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:
The arms were granted on 3 April 1974. The arms are a combination of the two lions of the arms of the Hohenlohe dynasty and the wheel of the Archbishopric of Mainz. Most of the district was ruled for some time by the Hohenlohe family, but some parts were a possession of the bishops of Mainz. The wheel already appeared in the arms of the [former] county Künzelsau, the lions in Öhringen.I understand Künzelsau and Öhringen were merged in 1973 to make up Hohenlohekreis.Literature: H. Bardua, Die Kreis- und Gemeindewappen im Regierungsbezirk Stuttgart (County and Municipal Arms in the Stuttgart District), Theiss, Stuttgart, 1987.
