Spechbach Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, in base a bar wavy Azure, on bar a woodpecker statant Sable beaked Argent, in chief two staffs fleury Gules in saltire.
Meaning:
The village was ruled by the Palatine Counts of Rhine since 1330 and became a dominion of the Margraviate of Baden since 1802/1803. Since 1401 the Lords of Venningen had been local rulers of various parts of the village. They gained the complete control in 1776. The staffs are taken from their family arms. Woodpecker (German: Specht) and bar wavy, representing a creek (German: Bach) are canting elements. The current pattern is known from the oldest local court seal from 1705. Seals from the 19th century only displayed the canting elements, surrounded by palm fronds.
