Meaning:
The current municipality had been established on 1 January 1972, when four villages, created by forest clearance in the Little Odenwald, merged. The arms had been those of the namesake former clearance settlement. The arms are based on a local seal from the 18th century and were adopted by the old municipality in 1914, when also the tinctures had been fixed.

The arms were confirmed and the banner approved on 6 June 1974 by Minister of Interior of Baden-Württemberg, published in GABl 1106/1974.
