Shield Argent, two staffs fleury Gules in saltire, superimposed by a third staff of the same, pointing to base.
Meaning:
Castle and settlement had been first mentioned in 1319 as "Nydenstein" and they belonged to the core possessions of the Lords of Venningen until 1805, when the village was acquired by Baden. The pattern of a local court seal from the 18th century is unrecognisable. Another seal from the 19th century displayed a crown over an initial "N". In order to remind on the former local rulers, the municipality adopted the family arms of the Lords of Venningen and added a third staff as a distinguishing mark.

The arms were adopted by the municipality in 1901. The flag probably never has been approved officially.
