Meaning:
The pattern appeared first on a local seal from 1700. According to a legend the village was founded by a Lady Emilia, which may be the meaning of the figure on the seal. Cultivation of woad (Latin: Isatis tinctoria) and production of its blue colour had been of great importance in the past. The upper left corner refers to the many creeks and streams in the municipality.
