It is a yellow - blue - yellow vertical triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the blue stripe and shifted to the top.

Shield Or, issuant from base a triplemount Azure, at its base a hole Sable, the entrance of a mine, edged by stones Or and charged with hammer and mallet Argent in saltire, on chief a hazelnut branch Vert having two leaves and three nuts Gules .
Meaning:
According to source hole, hammer and mallet are symbolising mining, the branch is said to be canting and representing the former muncipality of Haßlinghausen.
