L'Association des Aventuriers de Baden Powell

L'Association des Aventuriers de Baden Powell is an independent scouting organisation that exists in Canada outside of the recognised national federation with groups in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick.

The organisation was founded in 2007 from the merger of 2 previous independent scouting organisations (Association des éclaireurs Baden-Powell & Association québécoise des aventuriers de Brownsea) that had split off from the main federation over a desire to maintain a more traditionalist approach on scouting, putting the emphasis on woodcraft, a stronger discipline and religious outlook (Roman Catholic in this case).

The organisation flag, which they refer to as the "Unilysée" is composed of a golden fleur-de-lys on a dark red arrowed cross centered on a white field. According to their website, the symbolism is this:

The cross refers to the arms of knights who allied the ideal of service and devotion to Christian spirituality. Its four branches represent the 4 important virtues: justice, prudence, temperance & strength. Red represent devotion. The fleur-de-lys was chosen by Baden Powell as it always shown the north on ancient maps. Gold represent truthfulness. The white field represent purity.
