This flag is now used by the borough of Vieux-Longueuil, which corresponds to the former city of Longueuil as it existed until 2002. Translated from city documentation:
The logo on the flag was adopted in 1978. It represents a stylized blue L, recalling the majestic waters of the St. Lawrence. According to psychological studies, blue is also the color of peace and harmony, two daily objectives sought after in Longueuil. A green bud reminds us of the annual renaissance and underscores Longueuil's quality of life with much elegance, as well as the green areas of the city. It is also a reference to the ecological consciousness of the administrators. It is an image of growth, ardor and dynamism, three qualities of Longueuil. As a whole, the symbol evokes the human character of the city by its movement and by the purity of its lines.
