The municipality of Tangará (8,748 inhabitants in 2013; 38,916 ha) is located 400 km west of Florianópolis.

The flag and arms of Tangará are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 565
promulgated on 12 November 1971.
Article 2.
The coat of arms shall be
composed as follows:
A Portuguese shield surmounted by a mural crown proper
to municipalities. The shield basically divided into three quarters.
In the
first quarter, at the shield's upper right, on a yellow background a wine flask
and two glasses symbolizing grapevine plantations and notable wine production
in the municipality.
In the second quarter, at the shield's upper left, also
on a yellow background, a cogwheel and a pig representing industrial pig
breeding, a source of income for the municipality.
In the third quarter, on
a blue background, covering the whole shield's base, wheat and maize as the
municipality's main crops.
In the shield's center, an escutcheon diagonally
divided by a stripe charged in the center with a meandering river, symbolizing
Fish River, of importance for the whole valley, on a background composed of
green and yellow quadrilaterals symbolizing the municipality's natural
resources.
Beneath the shield, a scroll inscribed with the place's name and
the respective date of full establishment of the municipality.
Article
3.
The flag of the municipality shall be composed as follows:
A panel
with red and green colors arranged horizontally, charged in the center with a
white lozenge inscribing the municipal coat of arms described in Article 2 of
this Law.
