Tupi-Guarani, White Clearing.
Successively incorporated to the municipalities
of Porto União, Campos Novos, Joaçaba, and, eventually, Videira, Iomerê was
established as a municipality by State Law No. 9,898 promulgated on 20 July
1995, following a plebiscite held on 19 March 1995.
