The municipality of Três Palmeiras (4,381 inhabitants in 2013; 18,870 ha) is
located 400 km north of Porto Alegre.
Três Palmeiras ("Three Palms"),
originally known as Colônia do Pito, was named for a three-trunked palm - more
probably, three clustered palms. Colonization was initiated in 1912 and
increased in 1920.
The district of Três Palmeiras was established by
Municipal Law No. 43 promulgated on 24 November 1965. The municipality of Três
Palmeiras was established by State Law No. 8,631 promulgated on 12 May 1988,
separating from Ronda Alta.

charged in the center with a white disc featuring the municipal coat of arms.
