The coat of arms of the municipality of Presidente Lucena is based on Portuguese heraldry, which is the origin of Brazilian heraldry, with its principles and symbolism. It was artistically elaborated with mystic and allegoric rigor as required by usual heraldry, with colors obeying the following codification. Or (gold) is a symbol of force and wealth; azure (blue), of beauty; sable (black), of prudence; argent (silver), of history; gules (red), of justice and honor; vert (green), of natural environment.

The coat of arms features a sun or, representing birth, dawn, a new municipality, with its rays illuminating everything, on a limpid and clear sky. The hills represent the local topography. The buildings represent the town's skyline, with industries and churches.
The open book reflects the main production of the community, that is, education. God Mercury's helmet superimposed to a cogwheel is the universal symbol of industry and commerce. The branches of olives surrounding a handshake represent the successful unity in the process that culminated with the municipality' emancipation. The colonist's family standing on a plowed field recall those who built with their arms the municipality's income, and still maintain it through agriculture.
The scroll gules represents protection and justice. The maize plant and the sugarcane represent agricultural production. The three-towered mural crown represents the three powers, Legislative, Executive and Judiciary, and a third-rank town, seat of a municipality.
