The municipality of Palmitinho (7,177 inhabitants in 2016; 14,405 ha) is
located 500 km north-west of Porto Alegre.

The flag and arms of Palmitinho are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 1,752
promulgated on 22 December 2004.
Article 3.
The flag of the
municipality of Palmitinho was designed by the vexillologist and heraldist
Arthur Luponi.
Article 4.
The flag of the municipality of Palmitinho
has for proportions 14 units in width on 20 units in length. The flag's
rectangular field is divided into three horizontal stripes, the middle (in white
color) being twice wider than the upper or lower stripes, which are royal blue.
In the center of the white stripe, on the flag's obverse and reverse, is
featured the coat of arms of the municipality of Palmitinho.
Observations
1. The color shades shall be royal blue for the two stripes (upper and lower),
and snow white for the central stripe.
2. The white stripe shall be 2/4 of
the flag's width, to offer more amplitude to the coat of arms.
3. The
proportions of the flag of the municipality of Palmitinho are identical to those
of the national flag and of the state flag, that is, 14 units in width on 20
units in length.
4. On the reverse of the municipal flag, the coat of arms
shall be represented as a mirrored image of the coat of arms featured on the
flag's obverse.
5. The total width of the coat of arms shall be slightly
distant from the stripe's borders.
Article 5.
Blue, on the first and
third stripes, is a symbol of justice, nobleness, perseverance, loyalty,
incorruptible firmness, dignity (Guelfi, 64 and Asêncio 63). White (which is
substituted to argent on flags) is a symbol of peace, friendship, loyalty,
frankness, truth, dignity (Guelfi 51 and Asêncio 53).
The coat of arms
represents the municipality's economy, history and identity.
Article 6.
The features of the flag of the municipality of Palmitinho shall obey the
following rules [Drawing].
I. The flag's rectangle (ABCD) shall be in
proportions 14 units in width on 20 units in length.
II. The flag's width
shall be divided into four equal parts to establish the stripes that compose it:
the first and the third, in width 1/4 of this division, and the central stripe
2/4, or the half of the flag's width.
III. The vertical median (GH) divides
the width of the white stripe (XX) into 8 equal parts.
IV. The auxiliary
rectangle RSRS located in the flag's center is 8 units in width and 6 units in
length.
Article 8.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Palmitinho
was designed by the vexillologist and heraldist Arthur Luponi.

The first
flag of Palmitinho was loosely prescribed by Municipal Law No. 8 promulgated on
18 May 1979 - erroneously entitled "Creating the national flag".
Article
1.
The flag of the municipality of Palmitinho shall have the following
characteristics.
a) Colors
Blue, symbolizing the sky, the rivers'
water and the municipality's youth.
Green, symbolizing the forests and
vegetation.
Yellow, symbolizing the municipality's resources:
agriculture, industry, commerce and cattle-breeding.
White,
symbolizing peace and liberty.
b) A palm tree, the municipality's namesake.
c) A big star, symbolizing the municipality.
d) A small star, symbolizing the
district.
Article 2.
The dimensions of the flag and its rules of use
shall be prescribed by a Decree of the Executive.
