The Immigrant's Monument is Novo Hamburgo's oldest monument. Inaugurated on 15 November 1927 to commemorate the centenary of German immigration on the town's first colonized plot, it is today the seat of the German Society. Designed by the architect Ernest Karl Ludwig Seubert, winner of a public contest, the octagonal monument is surmounted by a central tower of 23 m in height.

ECNH was established on 1 May 1911 by a group of German white collars of the Adams shoe factory; the name Sport Club Novo Hamburgo, subsequently changed to Esporte Club Novo Hamburgo, was preferred to Adams Futebol Club. The club is colloquially known as Noia, referring to the German name of the town, Neue Hamburg.
ECNH joined the Gaúcho Championship in 1925. In 1942, the club was renamed to Esporte Club Floriano, as a tribute to Marshal Floriano Peixoto. The name Esporte Club Novo Hamburgo was adopted in 1968.
ECNH won the Gauchão in 2017, being the third club in more than 60 years to break the monopoly exerted by the two top clubs of Porto Alegre, Grêmio and Internacional (Grenal).

The flag of ECNH is horizontally divided blue-white-blue with the club's emblem in the center.
The first club's flag, designed in 1911, already featured white and indigo blue, in a darker shade, as its colors. With time, the shade of blue became clearer and clearer, while blue gained more space on the flag.
The current design was selected in a public contest organized in 2015, gaining 41.5% of the votes.
