Municipality

The municipality of Nova Ramada (2,602 inhabitants in 2004; 25,615 ha) is located 325 km of Porto Alegre.

The municipality was established by State Law No. 10,652 promulgated on 28 December 1995, separating from Ajuricaba. The municipality was formed as the merger of the two former districts of Pinhal and Barro Preto. The name of Ramada was already used in the 1920s to designate a place planted with a big tree that provided shade and was highly prized for local festivals.

Symbols

The flag of Nova Ramada is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 86 promulgated on 20 October 1997.

Article 1.
A flag divided into four greater triangles, which duplicate into four lesser triangles, charged in the center with a white rectangle featuring the coat of arms of the municipality in the center.

Article 2.
The colors represented on the flag of the municipality symbolize the colors of the flags of Brazil and of Rio Grande do Sul, being also the representative colors of the coat of arms of the municipality of Nova Ramada.

The coat of arms of Nova Ramada is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 66 promulgated on 5 August 1997.

Article 1.
A shield divided in three parts. In chief on a field vert (green) dexter a soybean plant or (gold); in the center, mechanization represented by a tractor and a combine gules (red) on a brown field; sinister wheat spikes or (yellow). In the central stripe, sinister doves argent and sable (black) representing the union of two communities to form the municipality; dexter a cow argent and sable (black) to represent milk production. In base on a field azure (blue) representing the rivers and barrages, fishes argent and sable (black) representing the municipality's newest resource. The shield surrounded sinister by Brazilian pines and dexter by trees forming shade at the origin of the municipality's name.
The shield surmounted by a four-towered mural crown or, meaning the town's sovereignty that should be defended by its government. Beneath the shield a scroll inscribed sable (black) "28 de 12 - NOVA RAMADA - 1995", the date of creation of the municipality.
