About the Flag

The municipality of Araruna (13,970 inhabitants in 2019; 43,919 ha) is located 500 km north-west of Curitiba.

The flag and arms of Araruna are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 20 promulgated on 20 November 1956.
The flag is horizontally divided red-green, charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms.

The original design of the arms, and, accordingly, of the flag, were corrected by Municipal Law No. 2,030 promulgated on 9 July 2020.

Errors in the design of the coat of arms were pointed out by the historian Wellington Rafael da Silva, head of the Culture department of another town named Araruna, located in Paraíba.
The color of the mural crown was changed from brown, representing a hamlet, to white, representing a town. The shape of the shield was also corrected, as was the color of the beak of the ara.
