Lineas is the largest private rail freight operator in Europe. Headquartered in Brussels, the company is also based in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain, and coordinates operations throughout Europe.
B Cargo was the freight division of the Belgian national railway company SNCB/NMBS. In 2001, it was privatized and renamed to SNCB Logistics, a subsidiary of SNCB/NMBS Group. SNCB Logistics became B Logistics in 2015, with Argos Soditic (rebranded into Argos Wityu in 2018), an independent European private equity group, as its main shareholder (69%), while SNCB/NMBS Group stayed owner of 31% of the shares.
After "years of restructuring and reinvesting in product offering", B Logistics was rebranded into Lineas in 2017.
Argos Wityu acquired another 21% of the shares in 2020, while SNCB/NMBS Group ceded its last shares to SFPI Group in January 2021.
