Indented Head Yacht Club

The Indented Head Yacht Club is located on the foreshore of Indented Head, Victoria. In the 1960s, a group of sailors camping or having holiday houses in Indented Head formed a sailing section within the existing Indented Head Boat Club. In the summer of 1971-1972, the Indented Head Yacht Club seceded by amicable agreement from the Indented Head Boat Club.

Indented Head is a coastal township on the end of Bellarine Peninsula facing eastwards on to Port Phillip Bay. It is 43 km. south-south-west across the bay from Melbourne. Indented Head was named by Captain Matthew Flinders when exploring Port Phillip Bay in the ship Investigator (1802). Landing on the east side of the bay he ascended Arthurs Seat and observed on the opposite side of the bay the Bellarine Peninsula with the indented coastline which he named Indented Head.
