Description of the flag

I have discovered yet another university flag, that of Griffith University, which has several campuses scattered throughout Brisbane. The flag can be seen at www.griffith.edu.au/er/brand/pdf/S5.pdf. Unfortunately this web site can only be accessed from Griffith University computers.

It does indeed appear that the servers will not allow us to access the PDF file from outside the campus. However, the text of the file can be located using the site search facility here.

It says:

“Official flag
The official Griffith University flag consists of a white field, with the standard logo in the full corporate colours.

“Banners
Griffith University banners feature a white logo reversed out of a Griffith University red background. To avoid confusion with the official flag, banners do not feature white backgrounds.”

The logo as it appears on the website is an image of an open book, showing 6 pages in red on white, next to the sans serif text “Griffith” in red above “UNIVERSITY” in black. According to Wikipedia, the logo replaced a coat of arms in 2004.

Griffith University was founded in 1971 with a campus in Nathan, Brisbane. It now has seven campuses in south-east Queensland and 31,000 students.
